The Asha Community Center is a Swadhar IDWC initiative supported by Asha for Education, Chicago chapter. It was started in the year 2007. This project reflects the successful implementation of all the programs run by Swadhar. This Asha center functions at Kakade Basti at Kondhwa - Bibwewadi area. Children, adolescent girls and young women are the primary beneficiaries of this program. Most of the population is from the bordering areas of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

At the community Center, programs like support classes, the Library, Abhyasika and Phulora Balwadi are conducted under the same roof. Health camps, counseling and parents’ meetings are also an integral part of the project. Sports days, annual social day celebration, awareness rallies, hobby classes are all conducted at regular intervals. Awareness sessions cover topics such as first aid, maintaining personal hygiene and hygienic surroundings, purification of drinking water, domestic violence, female feticide, etc.

Basic facilities like schools, local transport, playgrounds for children, toilets, etc are absent in these areas. With cooperation of the Pune Municipal Corporation, Asha Community Center tries to make provisions for all such facilities.
