Mohor, a unique project of Swadhar, IDWC has been running a Crèche and Day Care Centre for the children of commercial sex workers
in Budhwar Peth since 1997.
Children between the ages of 6 months to 15 years are looked after at Mohor from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The children are provided with a conducive environment for their growth and development along with basic health care, nutrition,
recreation and education.
Rehabilitation of some of the children is sought through placing them in residential schools where they
can pursue their education and live a healthy life.
After working closely with these children and their mothers, a pressing need was
felt to take care of the children at night as well in order to minimize exposure to uncongenial atmosphere. On 14th November 2007,
Swadhar, IDWC therefore started a Night School and Shelter for these children in collaboration with the Shikshan Mandal of PMC.
