"The Protection for Women in Domestic Violence Law / Act," (P. W. D. V. Act) has been enacted since 26th Oct. 2006. For the implementation of this act, Swadhar IDWC has been appointed by the judiciary as Service Providers. We receive cases from the court and police for counselling. Many of our staff members have obtained higher degrees we congratulate them for their success. You will note that most of our services are covering the individuals belonging to the marginal groups such as children of women involved in the sex market, children of parents who are victims of AIDS, children of migrating population who live on the peripheries of Pune which is a fast developing city. This year because of draught all over the country, food prices are increasing beyond the capacity of poor families. We appeal to our well wishers and donors to help us in the difficult year, to be able to reach out to more children in their health, educational and nutritional needs. You are also most welcome to become member of Swadhar IDWC and participate in its various activities. (Meenakshi Apte) |
